March 15, 2017: Author and Comic Writer, Mike Gagnon released his latest
novel ‘Uninvited’ on Amazon this Valentine’s day and the print edition of
the book sold out on Amazon’s Canadian site, Amazon.ca, within hours of
its launch. However, the subject matter of the book may be controversial,
making it an adventurous reading choice.

Published by Hammer Books, ‘Uninvited’ is a psychological vampire thriller
and is building some early critical praise. The book has many
controversial topics related to modern relationships including mental
health, domestic violence, bondage, sex addiction and drug abuse and what
it is like for those who care for a loved one with these issues. Critical
speculation regarding the story being adapted for film began before the
books February 14th release.

“It’s a deeply personal project that I hope not only entertains but helps
people with real life issues,” said Gagnon. “I really felt that the story
would make a great short film while I was writing it, and if that helped
the message reach more people and get them through some very serious
issues, I’d be all for it.” Through social media and a weekly podcast, the
author has stated that he’s been pleasantly surprised and overwhelmed by
the positive response from readers and critics.

MIKE GAGNON RELEASES “UNINVITED” ON VALENTINE’S DAY

Something to get your teeth stuck in to!

Author and comic writer, Mike Gagnon, has unveiled his latest novel, Uninvited, set to launch on February 14th.

The vampire fiction story is Gagnon’s longest novel yet, and has already been tipped as potentially being his breakout hit.

Once again, Gagnon has drawn on his own life experiences, to tell a truly anti-Valentine story as opposed to a fluffy vampire romance. Uninvited is a story of life, and the process of moving on, following a mentally abusive relationship with a sociopath.

As with his previous work, this latest novel pushes the boundaries on genre rules, with the story exploring very real, and often dark aspects of life including mental health, emotional abuse, and living with drug and alcohol addictions.

The protagonist is tormented throughout these issues by the antagonist, a literal vampire, who continually tries to psychologically force them into being a willing, submissive victim. Gagnon bases the sociopathic antagonist on a real-life relationship experience.

Gagnon admits that he had to “dredge up many emotions” while writing the book, describing the process at times as “emotional torture”. Despite the sometimes exhausting writing process, Gagnon believes the book is necessary to empower those who have had a similar experience, and remind them that they can escape and move forward.

“While much of the book is fiction, it is loosely based on my own experiences of a previous relationship. This is why I was so motivated and compelled to write it”.

“I feel like there are a lot of people who can relate to my experiences, and this story will resonate with them, helping them to work through their own experiences. Essentially, the book allows the reader to examine their own questions, and leads them to the answers, as well as (hopefully) a better place than where they started” he added.

Gagnon’s other recent novel releases include ‘Skidsville’ and ‘Sex and the Circus’, but this is his first vampire fiction story.

“I have been a lifelong fan of vampire fiction” Gagnon says.

Uninvited will be released for digital download, rather appropriately, on Valentine’s Day (February 14th, 2017), but will also be available in hardcover and softcover format.

Book retailers can order books from Ingram Book Distributors (http://www.ingramcontent.com).

ROLL UP, ROLL UP. MIKE GAGNON UNVEILS LATEST BOOK –

SEX AND THE CIRCUS.

Distinguished Niagara Region author and comic writer, Mike Gagnon, has unveiled his latest novella, Sex and the Circus, hot on the heels of his crime novel, Skidsville.

Renowned for thinking outside the box, and adopting a unique writing style, this latest book is a story of self-motivation in pursuit of happiness and is the perfect gift this for the humor reader on your Christmas list.

Immersed in the crazy world of the circus, the book tells the story of Patty Jones, who finds it somewhat difficult to take a leap into the unknown when she meets a handsome lawyer who promises to change her destiny.

Reeling after her father’s death, Patty’s turbulent pursuit of happiness becomes a tale of self-motivation, carrying a strong message that one’s destiny really is a matter of positive mindset.

In what is something of a coming-of-age story, the book provides hope to anyone who has suffered unfortunate past experiences, seeking fulfillment and creating a life they deserve.

With a rather interesting and amusing cover, allusions are made to the other very famous book and TV series of the nineties, and although this is very much an original story, the course of love is not without its challenges.

The book comes hot on the heels of Mike’s recent crime novel, Skidsville.

In addition to writing, Mike is an instructor, helping to nurture talent among the next generation of artists and writers in a number of art organizations, and also at Toronto’s Max the Mutt College of Animation, Art, and Design.

Sex and the Circus is available to buy from all good book retailers, in both print and eBook format. The book is also available from Amazon https://www.amazon.ca/Sex-Circus-Mike-Gagnon-ebook/dp/B01FGD05G4.

MIKE GAGNON LAUNCHES LATEST NOVEL – SKIDSVILLE

Author and comic writer, Mike Gagnon, has unveiled his latest novel, Skidsville.

Renowned for abandoning traditional story-telling formulas, Mike, who lives in the Niagara Region, has pushed the boundaries on genre rules once more, in what is a thrilling crime noir story.

Written from the perspective of a low-level criminal, readers follow the tale of Joey, a young man setting out to prove his father’s innocence after his mother’s murder.

With no “good guy”, the story focuses more on varying levels of criminals, concluding that even the protagonist may have to atone for his misdeeds, even if doing things with good intentions.

“I wanted to take a look from the point of view of a criminal. He may be a bad guy, but readers can empathize to a certain point that he is a bad guy for the right reasons” Mike said in a recent interview.

Drawing inspiration from some of the great urban areas of Ontario, Canada, Mike has described Skidsville as something of a “love letter” to the places he has lived. “When I originally started writing and conceiving the story, it was based in Owen Sound and a little bit from my time in the West end of Toronto. Skidsville is definitely my way of giving a nod to some of the cities that have dubious reputations at times, as well as examining morality and the idea of penance”.

Having had a love for comic books since he was five-years-old, Mike has gone on to write and illustrate for a number of renowned clients, including Marvel Comics and Dark Horse Entertainment. Having drawn inspiration from a wide pool of inspiration such as Frank Miller’s Sin City and Will Eisner’s The Spirit, Mike’s take on often heavy subject matter, even through humor, has received widespread acclaim.

In addition to writing, Mike is an instructor, helping to nurture talent among the next generation of artists and writers in a number of art organizations, and also at Toronto’s Max the Mutt College of Animation, Art and Design.

Skidsville is available to buy from all good book retailers, in both print and eBook format. The book is also available from Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Skidsville-Mike-Gagnon-ebook/dp/B00SEGWWX0.
