The Legend of Topher Thomas – Review

Chris Perguidi has crafted a very intricate and multi-layered story with “The Legend of Topher Thomas”. His words are very well matched with the manga art styles of Shida, Ice Cream Manga Studios and Sega Kucing who each adapt the story into beautiful black and white art respectively.

In the first chapter of this story, Topher battles an evil squid monster from the Blue Lagoon, that resembles a very well known anime moon maiden. During the battle, Topher reflects on how he was once a boy named Christoph, who through a series of unfortunate events discovers that he is actually the demon spawn of mystical spirit animals, known as the Coyote Wolves. Christoph is forced to make a deal with the Coyote Wolves and embrace the dark arcane powers of his heritage in order to save the life of his adoptive sister, which leaves her trapped in the body of a Foxcat.

As Topher he has to embark on a mission into the world to find his demon father, in order to return his sister to her original form and find out about his heritage, battling monsters and creatures from the deep along the way.

A fun read for manga fans!
